Residence at Chicalim, located in close proximity to nature.

Challenges:

Chowgule residence is spread across an area of 6000 sq. m. in a completely natural setting. The architecture is a fusion of contemporary & vernacular style with materials used in their native form. Hence it was essential to design a landscape that would blend with the architecture. It was decided to use completely natural materials thereby restricting the use of concrete.

The arrival porch was treated with flamed granite, black & grey to form a radial pattern. The existing tree in the center was retained. The flamed granite flooring merges well with the random black basaltic stone cladding used in the elevation.

The existing fish pond was aesthetically treated & enhanced using a recycling system. A gushing water fountain was created here which provides a warm welcome at the entry. A sit-out space is created around it using combination of dholpur & mandana stone with grass joints. The granite seating & mushrooms add to the ambience.

A jogging track cum peripheral walkway was created looping the property using tandur & pebbles.

Planting was aesthetically designed around this space. Since the site has good amount of existing trees. Hence the planting concept aims to add more colour, texture & fragrance to the landscape in the form of lawn, shrubs and ground covers.

The compound wall was beautifully treated with blue China Mosaic pattern in the form of a wave.

Colour was added to the area at the rear of the play school with yellow oxide PCC along with white china Mosaic.

The parking area landscape was softened using grass pavers with bands of colour added to it to break the monotony.

A customized granite pergola around an existing tree with thatched roofing added beauty to the landscape.
